The Poldark effect has seen a massive boost in Cornwall and you can visit some of the amazing locations used for this period drama. Who knows, with the cast currently in and around the county on location filming the final series you may even get a peek of the action.
Holywell Bay is just five minutes away from our Carnebo Barns and is a hot spot for filming. Any beach scene seen on the show is almost certainly filmed at Holywell. With its huge golden sands backed by green tuffed dunes you can quite easily see why it was picked. Another must see destination is the charming Charlestown Harbour, which lies in St Austell. This harbour is filled with character and has been used in many films and TV series.
Other Poldark locations a little further afield include Botallack Mine, Bodmin Moor, Porthcothan and Porthgwarra just to name a few. Another destination on the list is the now famous Doc Martin village of Porth Isaac. Which is also wrapping up with it’s final series.
Now, there really is no better time for a walk along the coast than autumn. The colours are changing, the sunsets are stunning and it means you can wrap up warm and get those wellies out of the cupboard. The National Trust offers some spectacular trails or, just hit the coastal path. get lost in the amazing views as you inhale the crisp, fresh sea air before returning to your home away from home for a dip in the warm and relaxing hot tub! All in all it sounds like a pretty perfect day to us!
